All the instruments that are part of a laboratory are extremely important, regardless of the role they play, since it is all about teamwork. The tank, although simple in its appearance, is a very useful instrument in biology or chemistry laboratories.

The tank is an instrument designed primarily to maintain hygiene conditions, so important in these spaces, hence its importance and the need to know each of its aspects.

What is a T-shirt?

The tank is also known under the names of washing flask and  washing flask . It is a common bottle that has a built-in straw-like outlet, which contains a solvent inside, mostly distilled water.

The primary function of this instrument is to clean or wash other instruments, to avoid contamination with the samples placed in these places.

How does a T-shirt work?

The operating mechanism of the tank will vary depending on the purpose for which it will be used, whether it is for washing or for collecting liquids.

The uses of the tank are related to three axes, fundamentally, which are nothing more than the distribution of liquid in controlled portions, washing of instruments and absorption of liquids.

The uses extend mainly to laboratories, since they allow the removal of waste, remains or toxic elements from the instruments, to purify them in such a way that they do not contaminate the new mixtures.

In addition, having a straw at its outlet allows small portions of liquid to come out, so you can distribute it to other instruments, for unlimited functions.

If there is a liquid end product left, from a reaction, or just a portion that you want to store left over, just change the nozzle and voila, you can do it without problems. As we have seen, it is all about laboratory procedures for the processes of transformation, creation, elimination or experimentation of substances.

The tank is an instrument of indisputable utility within the laboratory. Its function guarantees that the procedures performed in it have the necessary asepsis, ensuring reliable results.

There are many types of tank that you can work with in the laboratory and one model differs from another by the manufacturing material, the solvent it uses or simply by the operating mechanism.

According to the manufacturing material

Not all t- shirts are made of the same material, because they comply with the safety conditions required by solvents. This is why we see that they are made of plastic or glass.

    • Polyethylene Plastic

It is a more economical material and allows to have a tank with simple functions and whose solvents are not reactive or of high temperatures that damage this material.

    • Glass

It is a more resistant material with which we can work the elements that polyethylene plastic could not support.

    • Nalgene plastic

It is a specialized plastic capable of withstanding almost any solvent and best of all, it always maintains a purity inside, which is ideal for microbiology work .

Depending on the solvent you use

Under this classification, a color code has been established on the caps that indicate what type of solvent you can place in that tank, specifically.

    • Blue top pads

They are the ones that specialize to contain only distilled or demineralized water in this case, inside.

    • White capped pisetas

It is the one most frequently used in laboratories and although you can also use distilled water, its original function is to contain sodium hypochlorite or, failing that, ethanol.

    • Yellow top t-shirts

They are specialized to contain only isopropanol.

    • Green lid pods

This type of tank is intended to contain methanol.

    • Red capped pisetas

This is one of the most resistant models and is capable of containing acetone as a solvent.

According to the operating mechanism

It refers to whether it is unilateral or dual, as we mentioned earlier because it will depend on the number of straws you have.

    • Single outlet

They are the ones that have a single straw which we activate to stimulate the exit or entry of liquids.

    • Two-way

This uses a propulsion mechanism in the attached straw that is why we blow or suck, to let out or allow the entry of some liquid.

Despite being a simple element, the t-shirts are well differentiated to be able to fulfill all the cleaning tasks in any laboratory with excellence.

Characteristics of the T Shirt

The tank is a particular instrument that has a series of particular characteristics that differentiate it from any other instrument found in the laboratory, the main ones being the following:

The tank from the unknown has had a significant importance in laboratories around the world, since it facilitates the cleaning of other equipment in this field, which, as we know, is essential for any process that is carried out.

In addition, it is a device that allows to contain solvents that dilute substances in different reactions, without having any contact with it, as well as to absorb those that we need to store.

The tank is undoubtedly a first-hand instrument , since it intervenes in the various processes, prior, in the development and at the end of a laboratory experiment.  Best of all, it is extremely easy to use, which makes it one of the most practical.
