  • Driving. This piece is where the thumb rests in order to extend the measurement range and achieve a greater reach.
  • Fixing screw or brake. With this piece you can mark exactly where the measurement reaches once the desired result has been obtained.
  • Vernier. This is the scale under which the Vernier caliper works, that is, what gives the measurements either in centimeters, inches, millimeters or even fractions of inches; this scale is the one that guarantees total precision.
  • Depth ruler. It is attached to the caliper cursor and is used to obtain depth measurement calculations.

Types of Vernier calibrators

Regarding the types of Vernier calipers there are multiple available according to the functions it can have, mainly 5 types can be distinguished, each with different specifications:

  • With dial indicator (or marker). This marker does not have a graduation scale but instead a dial indicator which is used through a rack and pinion system that allows larger scale readings to be obtained. Of this type of calipers you can find many exceptionally long, that is, they offer much greater measurements.
  • Digital calipers. Digital calipers offer the same utility, weight and functions that are present in standard calibrators but offer the clear benefit of having a digital LCD screen which provides a much easier way of reading and allows you to see the values ​​more clearly.
  • Calibrators with fine adjustment. They are specifically designed so that they can be used exclusively outdoors or indoors but not both at the same time; In addition, it allows movement cursor adjustments.
  • Gauge with adjustable uneven point stylus. This specific type makes it possible to facilitate measurements in planes with different levels (Ex: Steps) and that cannot be measured with standard calipers. In addition to this, it provides a vertical adjustment in its mechanism for measurement.
  • KAFER calibrator. These specifically are the lightest, analogous and above all portable; can be used to order the thickness of paper, cardboard, plastic, rope, wire and thread.

Vernier caliper maintenance

Although Vernier calipers are often used in environments that are considered harsh , they can generally be neglected in a way that renders them useless. The way to be able to take advantage of all its functions and durability is mainly to keep it in perfect condition by performing constant maintenance .
